Wood you believe it....?

....I've posted another parcel!

Another fun project found on the wonderful web!

This wiggly woody wonder is making its way to Sheffield University

to be part of the Crochet UK hyperbolic forest!

This started as a short foundation chain...

...I hooked 1htr in the first stitch, 2 htrs in the second, round....

...and round....

...and round until the variegated wool ran out!

I think there's about 25g wiggling around!

Looking forward to seeing other forest features and the whole hyperbolic happening!

Festive Freeform Fir Forest

Before all the decorations are packed away here are some that winged their way to all corners of the globe!

From the photo below you can see the progression from triangle with recognised stitch
to free-er form!

A larger hook was used to get a more lacey tension...

Experimentations with yarns...
natural sparkle...

 some have cotton threads...

all the yarns are gifts or charity shop gems...

The yarns with varying thickness were fabulous to work with...these are made from one of the cool yarns featured in this find here

 Each is unique as each stitch, or hole, was chosen at random and influenced by the structure of previous stitches or rows....

 Many have sparkly threads too!

I found the whole process very therapeutic, which is probably why so many grew from the hook!

Quite a few escaped the camera!

They have given me inspiration for the coming year, as I hope to dust off my drop spindle, with the intention of creating some textured woolly yarns.

Cat-ching up!

Over the summer some ideas have been quietly purr-collating, and taking shape! 

The finished cat-alogue is quite different from the original idea - 

but the new owners are pleased with their pets!

 Free styled spiral vessels provided a purr-fect base for a cat body.

.....the cat back! 

The purple cat had some fun in the sun!
 

His new owner is fond of his whiskers or mus-cat-che!

I really enjoyed going with the flow again, and love the random shapes, there are short ends and trimmings inside each....

It has caused a paws for thought involving more adventures with a spiral vessel....
all will be revealed, in seasonal time!
