May is definitely Mandala month there are magnificent mandalas everywhere!
They must have been on my mind when I began to design the present
for a special young lady who has had a significant celebration!
..each colour has a significance too...
...I just made it up as I went along...
but I knew the red was destined for a particular pattern...
....which was revealed with the blue layer!
for a special young lady who has had a significant celebration!
Her middle name is Daisy!
..each colour has a significance too...
...I just made it up as I went along...
but I knew the red was destined for a particular pattern...
Unfortunately, with the addition of a second round of blue, the stitch count became a bit haphazzard...so the planned picot edge had to be modified!!
The Daisy Mandala was made with cotton, wool and acrylic from my stash
and to account for the variety of widths and tension, a number of different sized hooks were employed!
It was fairly floppy...

It was fairly floppy...
so I sewed it, stretched, onto a vintage hoop
(very kindly sent by the creatively resourceful Jacqui - one of her fab charity shop finds!),
sprayed it with starch, and pinned the outer ring to block.
Hope the sun has been shining with you and there are daisies blooming aplenty!

Only 31g busted but hooked with love!!
We had a fabulous day celebrating with all her family yesterday!

Beautiful and your own design too.I have just made my first mandala.I want to make one for Yarndale 2014 so I need to practise!Barbara
A beautiful colourful daisy mandala. How clever to block it on a hoop and therefore end up with a perfect circle. Looks like a cool crochet hook. I'm really loving the daisy centre - no surprise there!
Oh, it's lovely Ali...... what a clever idea for making it less floppy. Looks like it worked a treat. Thanks for the mention.
The daisy doily-mandala is so pretty! How clever it is to attach a loop to it, it makes it firm and suitable for wall hanging!
Well done Ali!
